Clear Lake
Shores Annual Island-Wide Garage Sale April 26.
The City of Clear Lake Shores
will be holding its annual Community Garage Sale on Saturday, April 26th
starting at 8:00 am.
Volunteers will be handing out maps as you come onto the island that
will
reflect the location of participating homes. The Civic Club
will be
manning a refreshment stand in the City Hall Parking lot on the south
side of
the island, as well as at Sundial Park on the north side, so don’t
forget to
stop by and get a hot dog and popcorn for lunch. Assorted drinks
and
baked goods will also be available. In
addition, the Stewart Elementary 5th Grade Class will be
hosting a
Car and Golf Cart Wash, also in the City Hall Parking
Lot.
Last year over 60 individual households participated in the sale, and
we are
planning to make this year’s event even bigger.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date
has been set for the
following Saturday, May 3rd.
To get to Clear Lake
Shores,
take FM 2094 to Clear
Lake Road
and come over the bridge. The map station and City Hall will be
on your
left just after you cross over the bridge.

Blessing
of the Fleet
The 40th annual “Blessing of the Shrimp and
Pleasure Boat Fleet” will be held Sunday May 4, at 2:00 pm
on the Clear Creek Channel, along the Kemah Boardwalk. Colorfully
decorated shrimp boats and pleasure craft will file past the Cadillac
“Authentic Mexican Restaurant” where they will be blessed by the
officiating priest and minister.
Bring your family
and friends down to the Kemah Boardwalk to witness the festive boats
and colorful crews as they parade down the channel in celebration of
this time honored tradition. Whether you enter your boat or just
enjoy the parade, this is one event that you won’t want to miss!

One of Kemah's great assets is its location on Galveston Bay. The Bay
and Kemah waterfront draw visitors to here from throughout the world.
Kemah, on Galveston Bay,
takes its name for a word meaning “facing the wind.” It is said to be a Karankawa
word. The Karankawa were the indigenous Native American tribe that
inhabited the area. The city's slogan “Breeze into Kemah” was inspired
by the constant Gulf breeze greeting visitors to Kemah. A trip to
Kemah's Lighthouse District, offers a unique shopping and entertainment
experience. Fine art, clothing, Jewelry, Turquoise from one shop
owners Turquoise mine, nautical items, novelty foods, hand
made items, Antiques, T-shirts, novelty/promotional Items, a real Texas
winery, the Old School House Museum, a visitors center, night clubs,
piano bar restaurant, B&B's, Hotels and the Lighthouse are a small
sample of what can be found in the Kemah Lighthouse District. For

to the restaurant filled Kemah Boardwalk. Stroll along the winding
boardwalk on Galveston

shops restaurants and fine hotel, the Kemah Boardwalk offers a
Ferris wheel, The C.P. Huntington trains, Pharaoh's Fury, Joe's
Boardwalk Beast fast and wet boat ride, Rock climbing, Crazy Submarine,
Dancing Fountain, Boardwalk Tower, Inverter, Aviator, Balloon Wheel,
Red Baron, Boardwalk Bouncer, Midway Games, Arcade, interactive Sting
Ray Reef, live music on The Plaza every weekend. Rock the Dock on
Thursdays from May to September. The world renowned world class
